It began with a nickel.
At 10 years old, Colton Sleister would collect empty cans to cash in the 5-cent deposit. As he grew older, he'd ride his bike to scout for aluminum, occasionally fishing through the garbage and pulling his treasures home in a cart he built with wooden wheels.
It was the first of two businesses started by the now-18-year-old Ankeny teen. They sparked a love of entrepreneurship that he hopes to continue cultivating after he graduates June 4 from Ankeny Centennial High School and attends Drake University.
